Apostille Canada

Effective January 11, 2024, there will be a transition from the Authentication and Legalization of Canadian documents for use abroad. The Apostille Certificate is replacing the authentication and legalization process. The Government of Canada formally announced on May 16, 2023, confirming that Canada had joined the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents.

The Canadian Government needs to provide more information about the Apostille process and its implementation. What we know is that the Government of Canada has designated the following authorities to issue Apostille Certificates:

  • Global Affairs Canada, in Ottawa
  • Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery of Ontario
  • The Ministry of the Attorney General of British Columbia
  • The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General of Saskatchewan

Our office will continue to monitor the press releases from the Government of Canada and those from Global Affairs Canada regarding the Apostille process.

As a Trusted Partner and expert in this field, we are here to help. Feel free to reach out, as our office would be pleased to assist.
